Here is another project I did for Vis Story. Its based on the film by Ridley Scott.

I think she could be added to the series.. Maybe in a directors cut? Project was to take a character from a 70's movie and place them in a current film.
Heres some of it. More coming soon. One more week.
Starship Troopers Starship Troopers is a military science fiction novel by Robert A. Heinlein. The form more are familiar with is the 1997 film. The movie was a favorite of mine.
Issued helmet- This helmet is the standard issue. Visor folds down and it holds multiple cameras and sensors to aid in sand storm blindness and entering the bugs caverns. Morita Rifle I wanted the rifle to have a feeling of something that is hightech but not so futuristic that it puts the timeline of the movie past our lifetimes. Costume Variations- Initial costume ideation's and variations. I wanted to go for a desert coloring pattern onto hard armor that had areas of soft parts to allow for movement. Bugs! Colonist Compound- The compound is a settlement on the planet of Klendathu. The squad stops in to check a distress signal to find that they are ambushed by a swarm of bugs.
This is for Character 2. We had to choose an animal and make it part man part animal. It was suggested that we slide the bar more human so it would lend to more unique results instead of just a walking creature.
I choose a sloth and made him a commando in the German WW2 battlefield.
Design a Post-Apocalyptic vehicle that is constructed out of salvaged pieces. I choose a child day care transport to take children on field trips to the radiation pools, How they glow.

In one swift motion, the towering creature broke free of its shackles and sent the government scientists hurtling into the walls of the top-secret facility, as a hailstorm of bullets ricocheted off its genetically-engineered skin.
Heres One of my guys from Costume Design. Going for A roman soldier who is forced to command an army once he is taken hostage by an invading alien nation. He wants to keep his old armor out of pride but they add on there own designs and tech to make sure he stands a chance in battle.
John Berkey did some amazingly creative and intricate work and he did it all with actual paints. I was attracted to the hundreds of small shapes he puts into his pieces and the only way to duplicate it was to just paint it all in by hand. That quickly became a pain in the butt.
Viscomm 3. Choose a traditional Piece and try to duplicate it digitally.
So first up is the suits. This is the final layout I gave DKNY but it turns out that they didn't have the means after all to do a new closure system and had to go with a traditional flight suit that has a zipper up the middle. A shame because they liked the idea for a few weeks until it was discovered that it would take more time than they thought. Suit Ideation:
Final Suits: The final suits are made a few weeks after the concepts where finished. Nasa pilot for Plane 46 (see media Image Below), Team Bridenstine signing autographs.
Media Concept: This is the pitch for the final media piece. This was intended to put the rocket racing league in a setting thats not game legal but was exciting and sold the idea of New York. So I have them racing under the Brooklyn bridge.
Media Final: Here is the final piece. They like it and put it on shirts for the race day.
This is Beowulf done in a Norse setting. I used traditional elements with some made up in the spirit of the vikings. I wanted a tougher hero that you would think could get the job done.
Here is Grendals mother. I went with along with a Norse myth that had water serpent humanoids that would trick sailors off the boats. Along the body which are tucked in are a series of feet that carry her over land.
This is for Visual Development.
I choose to do Robin Hood but put it in early Scotland.
Maid Marrion leads the Scots against the Romans at Hadrian's wall.
First the comp:

Once that is approved onto the old fashioned pencil:
Moved some stuff around to get more banner in and fixed some tangents of the mountains as requested by the king of art: Mike Humphries.
Final Photoshop Tonal:
Update April 16th.
Changed a ton, repainted most the guys, made some larger to push FG MG BG!
Pretty happy with it, its supposed to be in color but color and I are not speaking at the moment.
Hey folks. Im keeping right up on updates aren't I. Yeah.
So here is the first half of Character 1. We had to design a team of thieves who have a child captive. So i decided to do upper class Victorian era thieves. This is supposed to be in a more playful style and no realistic stuff was allowed.
Did you catch the easter egg? Yeah I spelled PInnochiociocnoo Wrong on the presentation board. Good news I was not the only one.
Here is the Ghepetto character. Lower Class on the boat and He needed something so i gave him a bird to add a little more interest to him.
Next is the Figure head of the Ship and the "Blue Lady". She has been creaking and plastered to the front of the ship for years buy Pinnochio finds she is his only friend.
So thats the last two of the 4 characters completing the project. It was great fun and it was accepted into the gallery at school. A great honor and Im very pleased to have made it in, not just for myself but that entertainment is getting some attention in the gallery.
Here is the next character as finnished as its going to get for now. The character represents the Fox and the Cat. She is higher up on the totem among the ship mates stealing her way to the top and taking Pinocchio down a dark path.
Faye Drake First sketch for costume:
Made the pose have some more character and a little more interesting, so i re drew it:
Now here is the part like on all the step by step process where it goes from step 1 to almost done. Black and white tonal:
Being its color theory I figured i should color it. The Process of color mode and re painting the whole thing pretty much. Even though it took awhile I learned quite a bit though.
Two more characters Incoming tomorrow then i have to start key scenes. Going to be a speldiferous weekend. Any feedback is welcome And ill try to change it before its due.
Well this is has been awhile since my last post, but hey what can you say, i have actually been doing work! Go figure.
SO this is for color theory for entertainment which is becoming my main focus this term. WIth artcenter it seems that you need to choose one class and throw all you have at it instead of just doing a shot gun effect at all the classes at once hitting them all but not so well. Run on sentence much?
So this is The first semi finnished character. I have made changes since this version was saved but This is all you get!
Hes the puppet master, Wade Grimm aboard the ship. Cheers! (Click for larger version)
Here is one from forest lawn overlooking the city of smog.
I didn't really finish the foreground to the extent it needed to be but for now it shall stay that way.
This place was great to go to. Its the Arboretum in Arcadia. The fun part was that i grew up going here and who would of thought i would be back one day painting on a laptop.
Here is a painting I did of a church up in forest lawn. Im still getting used to photoshop and getting a technique, but alas artcenter doesnt have any technique classes as of yet.
